Just to keep you all updated; Here is a recent press release from The Salvage Shop.

The Salvage Shop is closing down..

Press Release Monday October 15 2007

The Salvage Shop is closing down. The site on which it is located has been sold for development. Efforts to sell the business as a going concern over the past 12 months have failed due to the complicated nature of the business and the need to relocate. Attempts have also failed to organise a staff takeover. The staff have now been made redundant. The huge volume of stock is being cleared by way of a closing down sale which has now commenced. The Salvage Shop will be completing any projects and orders that are underway and expect to be closed completely by the end of the year.

The Salvage Shop has been synonymous down through the years with the quality of the furniture, doors, floors and stained glass that it has produced from recycled materials. We have supplied many full interiors including most recently the revamp of The Munster Bar in Waterford city which included Mr O’Connors old chemist shop from the Quay. Over the years we have built a considerable reputation with the art we have produced, the many successful exhibitions we have hosted and a strong association with Jim Nolan’s play The Salvage Shop.

The founders of the Salvage shop, Jim And Seán Corcoran would like to acknowledge the loyalty of it’s staff down through the years and their dedication to quality. We would also like to thank our patrons from near and wide who have supported our endeavours. Also thanks to the press and media who have always been keen to expose some of our more dramatic items and events. Jim is retiring from mainstream business to pursue other interests. Seán and his wife Miranda are planning to build a new kind of Arts centre on the cliffs near Bunmahon. In Jim Nolan’s words; The Salvage Shop, where nothing is beyond redemption.
